Day 3: Building Interaction on Your Blog: Polls, Ratings–25 Days To A Better Beauty and Fashion Blog Challenge #SBBC / by Erin Baynham

This post is part of the Scandalous Beauty 25 Days To A Better Beauty And Fashion Blog Challenge! For even more tips, be sure to check out Erin's Guide to Better Beauty Blogging. There is nothing that will really guarantee interaction on your blog. There will be times when people will like your content, but may not feel like saying so. It's also a great idea for you to do the same. I'm a big fan of "The Golden Rule". If you want other people to comment on your blog, you should comment on other blogs. It's part of my blog mantra.

Here are 3 ways that people can interact, which only takes 3 seconds:

Polls: When doing a post, ask for feedback with a variation of the 'yes/no/maybe'. This could also be 'love it or hate it" or "I would wear it/w0uldn't wear it/might wear it" types of polls.

Ratings:  When evaluating a product or service, try using a rating system. Also, ask readers to rate. Use '1 out of 10' or something of the like. Here's an article on adding ratings in Blogger. If you're a Wordpress user, there are several plugins available.

Like: This isn't just for facebook! People can rate your posts by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down. This also helps you decide what you should continue to feature on your site. It's important to cover things that you like, but if you want hits and repeat readers, it's up to you to keep people coming back.

Assignment: You may choose not to use polls, ratings, etc. and that's totally fine! Search your favorite blogs and see their call-to-action: what they want their readers to do.
