Tonight I worked on a video addressing common makeup FAQ’s. Here was the look of the evening! It’s amazing that my false lashes looked EXACTLY like MAC #7’s, and only cost me $3 at my local beauty supply store!

I can’t believe I had the nerve to re-create this look, but it was SO beautiful! My eye and the model’s eye look COMPLETELY different. Mine has much more space, so much in fact that I had to extend the lid area. This look took me upwards to an hour to create, scouring my kit for duplicate products! The lips were a real challenge because I wanted my lips to remain matte, and I had to use a flat eye liner brush to make the sharp corners.
The MAC Coulour Ready collection is a compilation of skincare items including a pore and line filler and transparent powder as well as various lipsticks, eye shadows and my beloved Penultimate liner. Definitely more info to follow.

My girl Makeup By Ren Ren hit me up on Twitter and told me that I cut the crease!!!! I didn’t even realize it, but it happened!!! I have been practicing forever! See, practice makes (Almost) perfect!
I’m starting to adopt a new ideal: Wait a few weeks after a collection has come out, let the drama and over-analysis die down, then make the purchase! I got Gladiola Lipstick from the Dame Edna Collection on Saturday. I don’t even remember hearing a lot of hoopla about this collection, and I largely overlooked it. But yesterday while at the counter, I swatched the lipstick and flipped out over how fabulous it was! Gladiola is a creamy matte hot pink that would naturally scare anyone away. But it was just too perfect to pass out. Warren and I went to the Estelle and Solange concert in Baltimore, and I opted for a soft matte face to go with my matte lip. Sooner or later, I’ll figure out how to work with these powders and foundations that are full of talc so I can have less ghostly pictures. I swear, my skin was fierce in real life!

Do you know what else I have noticed? I always go through various face charts from fashion shows, and I notice that the look is clean, dewy, with a bolder lip. I really, really love this look! After making the recommendation above, I tried to incorporate the two looks, and here’s what I came up with!
Tonight I did a Youtube video showcasing some of my favorite Nars products. Typically, I wouldn’t wear orange eyes with a berry lip color like this. But, for the sake of my girls, I threw it on just to show off the color. Nars is a bit pricey, but the color payoff and quality is unlike any other!! I am absolutely addicted, and I had to share my love!
On the eyes, I have Mediteranee eye shadow duo on the inner lid. The orange is absolutely jam packed with shimmer. The other side of the shadow is a soft, lovely shimmery gold. On my outer lid, I’m wearing Galapagos, a dark brown full of gold sparkles. You’ll want it the second that you see it. It’s part of the Summer 2008 collection, so get it while you can! Oh, can’t forget my brow highlight, my favorite cream shadow ever, Pink Panther! It’s a soft golden pink, one of a kind!
Nars is known for their one of a kind blushes, hands down. On my cheeks have a matte, BRIGHT, intimidating orange called Exhibit A. I can’t lie, I was terrified when the artist tried to put it on me. But, the second I saw it on, it was in my pile of must haves! You only need the slightest touch of color to get the cheek looking hot! Lastly, on my lips, I’m wearing Boogie Nights lip gloss. It’s a berry color, and it is so perfect for these Summer days! Find Nars at Sephora, various department stores and Narscosmetics.com!!!
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! Long time, no chat huh??? I’ve been driving myself insane prepping for another accounting final. So sorry, I hope to never do this to us again!! I just got work that Singer/Songwriter Keri Hilson will be on BET 106 & Park tonight, and that one of my favorite MAC Senior artists, Romero Jennings, will be beating her face! I attended his Bridal Workshop at MAC Pro New York two years ago, he was SO entertaining. Actually, I remember seeing him at the Pro Store a few months ago during fashion week, scrambling to gather more items for backstage. He’s the artist that loves to use Genuine Orange Paintstick on Brown Girls to conceal and even out the skin. Genius.
Here’s Keri’s Look:
Prep + Prime Skin
Moisture Blend Foundation NC42,NC43 and NW45 Matte Bronzing Powder
Blush in Sunbasque and Frankly Scarlet
Eye shadow: Saddle, Blacktied, Cream de Violet, Blacktrack Fluidline Gel Liner Spice and Plum Lip Liner Prep + Prime Lash Primer, Plushlash Mascara in Plushblack and Fascinating pencil Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium and Dark for contouring
FROM ELECTROFLASH: Mineralized Eye Shadow Duo in Love Connection and Two to Glow Lipstick in Mellow Mood Lipglass in Major Minor
Here Are Romero’s notes on how he created the look:
Pump up lashes top and bottom with 2 coats of prep and prime mascara
Then add one heavy winter coat of Plushlash mascara in Plushblack.
I then add the #7 lashes which I cut into fine pieces and place on the top lashes!
The skin was primed with Prep + Prime Skin and polished with a sheer coat of Moistureblend Foundation that is highlighted with Moisturelush Eye Cream and contoured Matte Bronzer!
Shadows were pumped up with Creme de Violet used as a liner/shadow under eye while Saddle and Black Tied shadows frames the eye!
Be sure to also check out Keri on MTV’s TRL on Wednesday!!
The other night, Warren and I went to see one of our favorite performers, Fantasia!!! She was in Baltimore for the African American Heritage Festival. Baltimore at it’s best, free, live entertainment, a chicken box and a half ‘n half. When I tell you the girl performed, I mean she sang and danced her butt off!! She did an amazing job!! Later, we went to her after party. I always have the best time with Warren, I swear!!
I opted for a soft smoky eye, so I used MAC Sweet Sienna pigment on the lid, with Nocturnelle eye shadow in the crease. I have really been enjoying Nocturnelle in the crease!! Eyes were lined with plenty of Blacktrack Fluidline. I also used one of my favorite tools, the Billy B. Paintbrush #9 on my lower lashes. If my camera wasn’t treacherous, I would take some close up shots of my lashes. I don’t know how he configured this brush, but it separates and evenly coats the lashes like you would never believe. I finished up the look with Ablaze blush and some clear lip gloss.
I love the way that Johnny has this Natural’s hair styled, very free and whispy. For some reason, if I saw someone out and about with their hair in like this, I’d probably question it. But for this photo shoot, her hair is so very fitting. I’m just getting kind of sick seeing everyone with long, flowing weaves. Again, I’m not a pushy natural, it’s your hair, and you should do you!
Also, I am LOVING the cranberry colored cream blush. The model’s skin is so deep, and the blush just sets her skin off!!! I’m so loving it! And that burnt bronzy orangish pigment (possibly MAC Pink Bronze pigment??? Hmmm….) toward the end is luscious!!!
