I’ve been purchasing lipsticks and cream blushes like mad. Can you ever have too many? Probably. Ben Nye really pushed my habit. His brand has been used on theaters, photo shoots, drag shows and everything in between for years. His products have great quality and a cheap price tag.
Warren and I went to NYC last week. We were there for only four hours, and in that time we managed to hit some of the top beauty spots. In an effort to see Face Atelier, William Tuttle and Ben Nye, among others, we went to Alcone Co. This is a store for the true artist and makeup enthusiast. It’s not flashy, not trendy. I remember walking in and thinking, “is this it”? Make Up For Ever and MAC Pro spoiled me for sure with fancy show rooms. Don’t let the decor fool you. It’s a small shop packed with makeup. Shelves of foundations and powders, lashes, special fx products. Most of it is behind the sales desk, but you can’t go wrong.
I didn’t go to shop, I came to support my bff. And then I found them. The tray of cream blushes. I swatched them on my hand. They were perfect: thick enough to give you a veil of color on the skin, but thin enough that you could build it for the desired effect. The best part: they were $5 each!!! I purchased Raspberry and Blush Coral. To see all shades, check out Ben Nye Creme Rouge at Alcone Co.
