BET Awards Beauty Breakdown

What a very interesting event we witnessed last night. There were some good moments (Maxwell, O’Jays, Janet, Ne-Yo ‘Singing “The Lady in my Life’, 90′s medley with Guy, Tevin Campbell and BBD) and there were bad moments (too many to name). I was a tweeter freak last night, I tweeted more than I do in an entire week!  But you all know me and my eagle eye, I was concentrating on the makeup! Here are my favorite looks breakdowns (The pictures aren’t working for some reason, I apologize!  Check out BET.com for more images!)

Miss Keys was bronzed to perfection. She let her lips make the impact with a deep coral shade.  Reminds me of MAC Lychee Luxe lipglass.

Ciara wore a soft shimmery eye with a red lip.  I was definitely feeling this look (not the performance though).  Try Make Up For Ever Star Powder in #926 on the lid and Flirt! lipstick in Ace for the look.

Keyshia did it big with the magenta lip!  I was so proud! Girl About Town lipstick and Magnetique lip glass by MAC are the first items that come to mind!
The nude face was worn by many tonight, but Taraji rocked it the best!  It was creamy and flawless.  The first foundation that came to mind was Make Up For Ever HD Foundation.  MAC Mad Cap Lipglass is one of my new favorite colors, try that for a sheer nude lip!
Maxwell is just beautiful for no reason. Had to throw that in.  Were you waiting the entire 2.5 hours for him to perform like I was?!? Maxwell’s album, BLACKsummers’night debuts July 7th! I’m picking it up on Amazon!
What were your thoughts on the BET awards?!

The King Of Pop is Immortal (To me!) R.I.P. Michael Jackson

There’s no need for me to go into sob stories and the dozens of memories I have about Mike. I just want to say that he IS the greatest entertainer EVER. His memory is going no where, we’ll listen to him and learn from him as if he had never passed on. I’m so happy he can go to Heaven where no one will say bad things about him ever again. He can roam with all of the animals that he loved so dearly, and he won’t ever have to be alone. We love you SO much MJJ. Thank you for all of the fond moments that you have given the world. RIP darling.

Some of our favorite MJ hits via his youtube channel. Definitely a must see.

Also, check out this rare footage from the Jackson home via Soultrain on Youtube.

Exclusive: Beyonce’ Live In Concert!

Wednesday night posed a great problem for me. At 5:45ish in the evening, my cousin called to inform that he had an extra floor seat to the Beyonce’ concert. Of course I was going to say yes…but geez…this left almost NO time to finish my project at work, clean up, drive home in rush hour traffic, find a hot outfit, complete hair and makeup, drive back downtown, find a good parking space and get into the show before Bey’s set began!

In a nutshell: Bey is one of the best performers I have ever encountered. I went to her concert last year and was fully satisfied. Granted, a few things were the same as “The Beyonce Experience”, but I’m not complaining! I don’t want to tell you too much about the concert, because I’m sure that many of you are going! Plus, if you follow me on Twitter, you got a pretty descriptive play by play as it all happened. I loved the covers that she did, once from Sarah McLachlan and another from Alanis Morissette. She killed them both.

The sad part is that our show wasn’t close to sold out. There were tons of people there, but the nosebleed sections were virtually empty. Apparently, many of the ticket sales dropped dramatically in price the day before or the day of the concert. All in all, don’t assume that you can’t afford to go. Check out Ticketmaster.com and see if there is availability in your town. You do NOT want to miss this!!

This is on the big screen backdrop, you can see her band to the left and right.

She’s flying!

Here’s a bit of the crowd. I still can’t get over all of the Kanekylon and Yaki in that building.

Was she looking at me?!?! Nope, she was looking beyond me…

Admiring her fans…

You’ve gotta love all the textures and colors of hair in this shot!

Sam Fine DVD Release Party!

How excited are we all that Sam Fine is finally coming out with a makeup video? Finally, we’ll get to learn the tricks of the trade (or just the tricks that he wants to expose). He can highlight and contour a face like I’ve never seen. When I attended his seminar back in 2007, he used over five foundations to sculpt his model’s face. The launch party went down at the Warren Tricomi Salon at the luxurious Plaza Hotel in NYC. Here he is looking so fresh and so clean with Iman (the host of the party), Deborah Cox and Vanessa L. Williams.

Sam Fine, Vanessa L. Williams and Dr. Lisa Iran

Sam Fine and Taraji P. Henson (Damn T, that hair though? Yuck!)

Apparently, the drink of choice was Nuvo! (I popped a bottle or two of this on my birthday in May, I really wanted to like it but it was overly flavored in my opinion. It was as if they wanted to hide the champagne taste with fruity syrup. I’ll stick to white wine.) The DVD will retail for $24.99, available of Samfine.com and Amazon.com. Can’t Wait!!!

Update: The Essence Beauty Team was there for the action! Check out their coverage of the star studded event!!!

By the way, if you don’t have his book Fine Beauty, you’re NUTS! Go get it!!! It’s a classic amongst classics!!!!
